History

Manuel Lujan Sr. founded the Manuel Lujan Agencies in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1926 and for over 80 years, it has remained an important part of the New Mexico insurance and risk management landscape. Manuel Sr. guided the organization for over 40 years, till his son Edward took over as CEO in 1968. Edward continued his father’s tradition of commitment to his community, heritage, and the clients he served until his retirement in 1997. He remains active in the agency as chairman of the board. The third generation of the Lujan family manages the business today with Edward’s son, Larry, assuming the role of president and CEO since 1996; son, Joe is vice-president overseeing large commercial and bonds divisions; son-in-law, Stephen Byrd is vice-president overseeing the employee benefits division.

Today we employ over 90 insurance professionals and serve over 6000 clients throughout the United States. We provide innovative approaches in employee risk consulting, management consulting, property and liability risk management and financial growth. Manuel Lujan Sr.’s vision of serving clients to the best of our ability continues on today.
